On July 9, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a two-day visit to Russia, visited the “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” in Moscow.

Mr Modi is in Moscow to hold the 22nd annual India-Russia summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also laid a wreath at the mausoleum.

“A solemn tribute to the brave! Prime Minister @narendramodi laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow to pay tribute to the bravery, sacrifice and indomitable humanity,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on “X” Salute to courage.

This is Modi’s first foreign trip since Russia invaded Ukraine.

The “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” is a war memorial located on the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.

It features a crimson porphyry monument decorated with bronze sculptures of laurel branches and a soldier’s helmet placed on a flag.

It is dedicated to Soviet soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Indian diaspora. He said India is changing because it believes in the power of its 1.4 billion citizens who now dream of turning the resolve of “Viksit Bharat” into reality.

The Prime Minister said that taking on all challenges is in his DNA and India will write a new chapter of global growth in the coming years.
