India General Election 2024 Live Updates: Campaign ends for sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls

As the dust settles on the final day of contesting for Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats on Thursday, political parties and candidates are pulling out all the stops to woo voters in the city who go to the polls on May 25.

A head-to-head confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its bloc partners Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress party has emerged on the eve of the Delhi election battle, marking the usual triangular year of competition over the past decade. Both sides showed confidence in winning all seven seats.

The battle turned into a contest between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as candidates from their respective constituencies held rallies and road shows. The Congress hopes that Delhi will rise again a decade after being driven out of the capital by the AAP and has succeeded in convincing party workers that they are fighting a larger battle to save democracy and the constitution by allying with the AAP.

The Congress and AAP are conducting the polls on a 3-4 seat-sharing agreement. A total of 162 candidates are in the fray, with the largest number of candidates from the Northeast Delhi constituency.
