From The Hindu, June 27, 1924: Vaccine against Tuberculosis

Paris, June 26: Professor Calmet of the Pasteur Institute has invented a vaccine to prevent tuberculosis consisting of bacilli that have been carefully weakened through 230 consecutive processes, the Havas agency said. 100 experiments have been carried out on animals and 217 newborns showing symptoms of possible tuberculosis have been vaccinated. All babies have been monitored for 18 months and so far, none have shown any signs of illness.
